Adam Milstein is one of the key activists in the Jewish community. He has been working very hard to see that the welfare of the Jews in the United States and other parts of the world is treated with the respect it deserves. Among his main concerns is how the anti-Semitism agenda can be defeated. He has tried to highlight some of the different forms that this agenda has taken in recent times through articles and conferences. With cases of anti-Semitism reportedly going up in recent years, there is concern that humans of goodwill, led by the Jews themselves, need to do something to curb the spread. What is worrying about the recent trend is that it is happening more in western countries where such vices should be defeated.
Adam Milstein is the co-founder of the Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation. This organization was started with the help of his wife, Gila. Its primary mission is to address matters of philanthropy that mostly concern the Jewish American community. The organization has been working with like-minded pro-Israeli organizations to support various needy causes. Milstein is concerned that Judaism education needs to be taught to more people in the United States. A considerable number of young Jews born in the US lack a basic understanding of the Jewish culture. To bring back their identity, Adam Milstein has initiated programs that give out Hebrew material to the young people.
Israeli-American Council (IAC)
Adam Milstein is the co-founder of IAC. This organization was formed in 2007 and has mainly been advocating for the unity and strength of the Jewish community. Through this organization, Milstein has managed to bring together Jews living in the United States. Today, the Jewish American community is robust and pursuing matters that affect the community as a team. Adam Milstein believes that through unity, the Jewish American community will stand to fight vices such as anti-Semitism.
Although Adam Milstein is a recognized community leader, he is also a prominent businessman. He is the managing partner at Hager Pacific Properties, a commercial real estate company based in California.
When one mentions the name Alastair Borthwick, they trigger such words as broadcaster and writer because these are the activities that propelled Borthwick to popularity. Having been born in Troon in 1913, Alastair Borthwick spent a significant share of his teenage life in Glasgow. Like other people in his age group during his time, Borthwick did not graduate from high school as he dropped out to become Evening Times’ copytaker at 16. However, he did not take long before graduating to the Glasgow Weekly Herald where he harnessed his communication, media, and writing skills.
In the writing arena, Alastair Borthwick is known for popularizing mountain climbing as a sport among the people in the working class. His interest in this activity started when he was a teenager while still working at Glasgow Weekly Herald. In an attempt to identify content to write on the open air page, Borthwick discovered this sport. He admits that he immediately became addicted to it after his first experience. Although the work he conveyed mainly involved his adventures, he made sure that he added something more to the content to ensure that his current information was more advanced than what was indicated in the previous issues. Mountaineering became a common leisure activity during this time because of the unemployment situation in the region.
When he was not writing about climbing mountains, Alastair Borthwick was also interested in World War II endeavors. He mostly liked telling his readers about this war by using the eyes of an infantryman or captain. His interest in the war was inevitable since Scotland was a part of many countries in Europe that were in it.
Alastair Borthwick’s presence in the broadcasting world cannot be overlooked because this is where he seemed to have found satisfaction as a journalist. His career as a broadcaster was launched when he admitted to a BBC producer, during an interview, that he had climbed a mountain in the previous weekend. After the producer dedicated 15 minutes of radio talk to the mountaineering topic, it became the start of Borthwick’s career in this field. Although he died in 2003, his contribution to broadcasting, writing, mountain climbing tales, and the war remains with the people.
