The Impact of Jorge Moll on Medical Research

Jorge Moll began his career in medicine by obtaining his MD in Neuroscience from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (where he also did his residency) and his Ph.D. in Experimental Pathophysiology from Sao Paulo University. In the years since he has had a huge impact on the medical world. Moll currently serves as president and board member of the D’Or Institute of Research and Education and Director of the Cognitive and Neuroscience Unit and Neuroinformatics WorkGroup. He resides in Rio de Janeiro with his family.

Moll says that the majority of his days are spent in almost constant meetings with students, associates, scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs. He believes that this kind of communication is key to getting things done (Crunchbase). It is in these meetings that he selects which courses of action to take. But communication is not the only thing he considers important for leadership. He also holds very high transparency, openness, and skillfulness. In addition, he thinks it is vital for a leader to either run with an idea quickly or to go on to the next idea if it cannot be done quickly enough

Moll advises leaders to continually hone your methods. In other words, you should never do the same exact thing twice. However, continually perfecting your methods in no way guarantees that you will never fail. Moll says that he has failed many times over the years. He finds such instances learning tools that help him tweak these methods. To help him to stay productive in his work he favors using Evernote and Trello. And he will most likely remain a very busy executive for many years more. As busy a man that he is, Moll relishes his leisure time. He likes to spend such with his wife and children. He is also a voracious reader. He particularly recommends “The Exegesis” by Philip Dick.
